Moses Kiirya, taking an oath bafter he was elected district speaker

The Member of Parliament for Bujenje County in Masindi district, Rt. Lt. Patrick Kasumba has tasked the district speaker, Masindi district council, Moses Kiirya to avail a tractor registration number UAM 024F that was given to the youths by President Yoweri Museveni for physical inspection and viewing.

In a letter dated 11th August 2016, Kasumba also challenged Kiirya to produce full accountability of the resources collected since the said tractor went into is possession and if not, an explanation would be suffice.

Kasumba gave Kiirya an ultimatum of five working days from the date of the receipt of the letter. “The youth in Masindi district have petitioned my office in respect of the above tractor. As you are full aware, the youths in Masindi were given the tractor by his excellency the president and the same was delivered by Moses Byaruhanga meant for poverty alleviation and or income generation”, the letter reads in parts.

Kasumba says that, inauspiciously, the tractor has since gone missing or has disappeared to the best of Kiirya’s knowledge something that is detrimental to the youths’ livelihood in the area.

When contacted, Kiirya could not deny but declined to give any comment.

However; the Masindi district boss, Cosmas Byaruhanga told our reporter that, he could not comment on the issue of the tractor because the president gave it to Masindi District Youths Association but not Masindi district local government.

When contacted, the resident district commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma said that, he had received Kasumba’s letter addressed to the district speaker, Moses Kiirya.

He disclosed that, the district security committee meeting that sat recently resolved to investigate the matter to find out where the tractors is and whoever is responsible would be held liable accordingly.

When asked whether the tractor was given to the association of youth in the district, Nyakahuma replied that: “I have not yet read through a file concerning the tractor because my secretary is ill but the moment she comes back for duty, I will check to find out the correct information”.
