Kabindi Stephen, an independent aspiring Member of Parliament for Buruli County in Masindi district has refuted allegations that he has bowed out of the race and warned those spreading the propaganda to stop it.
Kabindi who is also the LC III chairperson for Kimengo sub county in Masindi district also distance him self from rumors that he was given money by agents of the state minister for fisheries, Prof. Mijumbi Zerubaberi Nyira who is also the incumbent Member of Parliament for Buruli county to step down in favor of his opponent saying that he is inestimable and it’s only the electorates who can advise him to step down.
Kabindi made the clarification on Wednesday at Kijunjubwa health center III whiling addressing a team of his campaign task force that is mobilizing voters to elect him during 2016 general elections.
The aspirant alleges that, Nyira’s campaigners he could not mention are spreading false propaganda that he had been given some money to step down, a scenario he believes is meant to confuse his supporters so that they can be demoralized.
“I want to warn everybody who is spreading this rumor to stop immediately because my people will record people and we open cases of spreading false propaganda at police,” he said.
Kabindi also assured his supporters to go ahead convincing other people to vote for him saying the frustrations they received in the NRM primaries of Vote rigging will note happen again.
“Every body knows that I won minister Nyira with big margin but people used money to change the results by conniving with some electoral official and that is how we were denied our victory but am assuring you that this will not happen again this time,” he said.
In the same meeting the members led by Stephen Nyamununu the, who is the chairperson of Kabindi’s task force agreed to start mobilizing and contributing money to support their candidate throughout the whole campaign period something they referred to as “omuganda” which will help him traverse the county looking for votes.
Nyamununu said that although they have solid support from sub counties of Kimengo , Bigando, Kigulya and Mirya , they still had a challenge of Pakanyi sub county where they had meager support in the NRM primaries
“Giving Kabindi votes only will not grant us victory but, we also need your support inform of finance through Omuganda to move to Pakanyi which has 82 villages and convince these people to give us votes if we are to win convincingly,” he said.
In addition to Professor Mijumbi Nyira, the incumbent area MP and also the NRM flag bearer, Kabindi will also tussle with an independent candidate called Kimezere Buhanga in the same race.
