Member of Parliament for Bujenje County in Masindi district, Kabakumba Labwoni Matsiko has rubbished allegations that she was suspended from the position of chairing National Resistance Movement party in the district by the party district executive committee.
Kabakumba said that, there is no one in the district who is supposed to expel her from the party chairmanship arguing that those who resolved to suspend her could not even constitute district executive committee.
On 16th December 2015, the district executive committee meeting that was chaired by Kanaginagi Ateenyi, NRM party vice chairperson suspended Kabakumba on accusations of being indiscipline because she decided to stand against NRM flag bearer for Masindi municipality, minster Ernest Kiiza as an independent candidate.
Kabakumba said that even the district executive committee has no mandate too expel any one from the party. She also claims that, those who made a resolution to suspend never considered giving her chance to fair hearing and therefore she is still the legal district party chairperson.
She said that the meeting that sat was illegal because she is the only person to convene district executive committee and in any case if there is any party member who has any grievances with her, he or she must have to petition her.
On standing as an independent, kabakumba clarified that it was a directive from the president who said those who were not satisfied with party primary elections were right to contest and she was not happy with her opponent who has a printer and reached an extent of producing illegal posters with Go Forward logo.
Kabakumba warned whoever has posters branding her to be Go forward member when her posters have a symbol of a clock and vowed to make sure those who will be got in possession of the illegal posters will be arrested and compelled to disclose where they got the from.
