The former candidate for Masindi municipality mayoral seat, Joshua Amanyire Kiiza is now hunting for a job after failing to go through. Our snoops have reliably learnt that, Amanyire who is a professional grade V secondary school teacher and a graduate forester has resorted to moving from one office to another looking for jobs.
While addressing district security committee meeting recently, Godfrey Nyakahuma, the resident district commissioner disclosed that, after accepting defeat, Amanyire went to his office asking him how he can be helped by government.
“Yes, it is true Amanyire accepted the outcomes of elections. He was asking me how government can help him by assigning him some tasks”, Nyakahuma was heard saying. The RDC was responding to claims raised by former NRM candidate for mayoral seat, Ronald Busiinge Kyomuhendo who went on Kings Fm in Masindi town and started accusing him for having told the general public to vote Joshua Kiiza Amanyire, the incumbent mayor who stood as an independent when he appeared on Radio Kitara a day to polling day.
Some other sources indicate that, Amanyire who is also a born again Christian met president Yoweri Museveni through Pastor Robert Kayanja but we are yet to know what they discussed during the meeting. It is however believed that, Amanyire is now lobbying to be given presidential appointment because he is a strong NRM cadre. He has served as a mayor Masindi municipality since it came into being 8 years back.
Amanyire and Kyomuhendo were defeated by FDC candidate, Joab Busiinge in elections for mayoral race that were held on 2nd March 2016. On 3rd March 2016 at around 7:30am, Ibrahim Salim Kizindo, the district returning officer authoritatively announced Joab Busiinge as the winner of mayoral race with 6,784 votes followed by his main challenger Amanyire Joshua Kiiza, an independent with 6,138 votes and NRM’s Kyomuhendo Ronald Busiinge trailed with 5,694 votes.
