Over 40 Health Training Institutions Lands in Bunyoro for Sports Tournament

Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Dr. Solomon Iguru,   inspecting the players after he opened the tournament at Boma grounds on   TuesdayForty five Health training institutions from different parts of the Country on Tuesday arrived in Bunyoro Kitara kingdom to participate in 13th edition of Nurses and health training institutional games. The games to be played by the participants include football, netball, volleyball, basketball and Athletics.

The one week gala will be held at different pitches including, Boma grounds, Mandela S.S, Sir Tito Winyi S.S and Duhaga S.S playground among others in Hoima Municipality.

The launch of tournament was made oby Omukama Solomon Iguru on Tuesday. He challenged the Government to inject more funds in sports activities as one of way encouraging the youth to develop their talents.

He explained that a lot are still missing in sports arena due to inadequate support from government adding  as result youth die with their talents yet if  explore can transform their lives.Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Dr. Solomon Iguru,   handing over a trophy and football  to the organizers of the tournament as   he opened the tournament at Boma grounds on Tuesday

Reacting on Omukama’s call, assistant Commissioner Ministry of education and sports Sam Odogo, say government is process of perform law aimed at promoting sports in Country.

He says that Cabinet has cleared the Physical Education and Sports Bill 2015 adding that the bill is set to be introduced Parliament soon.

He explained that once this bill gets passed into a law, National council of sports will be changed into a commission or an Authority. The law will also allow the government to establish National Sports Fund. The fund will be in charge of collecting revenue specifically for sports and construction of national and regional stadiums in addition to promoting sports.

He says that the idea of coming up with new law was reached on after realizing  that there was a lot not going on well  in schools, community and other  institution pertaining  to sports.

Betty Angujeru Pacutho, the principal Hoima school of Nursing and Midwifery which is the host challenged the participants to exhibit discipline adding the tournament aimed promoting sports and good health among students.
