The second deputy prime minster, General Moses Ali has stated that, the decision by Ugandans to unanimously elect NRM party to power translates to guaranteed security for the country.
Moses Ali made his remark while addressing NRM party members who turned up to celebrate their party victory during the recently concluded general elections, a function that was held at Masindi Booma ground on 16th April 2016 where he was a chief guest.
Ali said that, if people continue voting NRM party into power, they will be assured of security like it has been for the last thirty years adding that, Bunyoro and Masindi in particular are on record for voting NRM to power overwhelmingly and the support has been exhibited at all levels over the years.
“We have noted that, in recently concluded elections you voted President Yoweri Museveni and elected Lt. Patrick Kasumba for Bunjenje County, Ernest Kiiza Monday for Masindi municipality, Bintu Jalia Lukumu for district woman MP and Professor Nyira Mijumbi Zerubaberi for Buruli county, all being Members of NRM party”, Ali added.
The second deputy premier observed that, the results of recently concluded elections symbolizes unity among NRM party members that will lead to prosperity for all through effective implementation of government programs. He said that, government ministries and agencies will be at fore front in implementing different projects which citizens should embrace to increase house hold income to fight poverty.
Museveni’s trusted general applauded other former presidential candidates in the recently concluded elections for having decided to stand against Museveni’s candidature saying it was good to accompany him in the presidential race because if he had been alone, elections would be meaningless.
Gen. Ali also appreciated Amama Mbabazi’s efforts to go to court to challenge the outcomes of presidential elections because it implies that, after losing, one has another option if he is not satisfied with the results adding that: “If you do not have evidence to present to court, you still lose the petition and that is a reason Amama lost the court battle”.
In his speech that was prepared in anticipation that President Museveni would attend the function, the acting district NRM chairperson Masindi, Kanaginagi Ateenyi said that, the occasion was multipurpose because its intent among others was to reconcile with members of opposition parties since Masindi belongs to all hence a collective responsibility to develop it.
Through the second deputy prime minister, Kanaginagi requested the president to fulfill all pledges he has been making previously like the tarmacking of Kigumba-Masindi-Buliima road, Apach-Rwenkunyu road that starts from Kirasa cell in Masindi town to capture 41 kilometers of greater Masindi Port road.
The Member of Parliament for Masindi municipality, Ernest Kiiza who was reelected assured NRM party supporters that, their party ensure whatever was promised during campaigns is fulfilled because their slogan is good service delivery to the people and requested all civil servants to work together with politicians.
Bintu Jalia Lukumu, the district woman Member of Parliament Masindi stressed a need for reconciliation between winners and losers in the recently concluded elections since conflicts will not cherish development.
