UPDF Major in charge of Pensions shot Dead at RDC’s Office

A Uganda Peoples’ Defense Force (UPDF) Officer, Major Tinkamalire who has been serving as zonal pensions’ officer in charge of Masindi, Buliisa and Kiryandongo district was on Thursday night shoot dead by a prison warder.
The prison warder who shots the deceased officer has been identified as Alimadri Musa who had been deployed to guard the office of Regional Prisons Officer which is also located at RDC’s building along Masindi-Butiba road opposite post office in the center of Masindi town.
Speaking to our reporter, Major Peter Mugisa, the UPFD’s spokesperson in charge of artillery division said that, the demise occurred at around 10:30pm when the gallant officer had gone to his office to pick a laptop. “Last week thugs broke into the offices of the RDC and his deputy and took away 2 computers sets and it is believed that late Tinkamalire feared that, if he had left there his laptop, it would be stolen”, the PRO said.
Mugisa explained that, when Tinkamalire went for short call into the toilet, he found Alimadri who had slept there and asked who was knocking on the door. He added that, Almadri picked his gun and scuffle ensured in the toilet until Tinkamalire was shot in the chest and died.
By press time, Almadri had been arrested and locked in police cells and Masindi central police station. Mugisa believes that, police will carry out through investigations to find out the truth of the incident.
